About Us
The origins of Carité Calçados Lda, date back to 1986, when João Teixeira started his activity as an individual providing services in the footwear sewing area. Starting with a small staff (4 people), the work developed and the quality of the service provided, allowed it to have the most important footwear factories in the Felgueiras area as customers, performing sewing services on footwear.
Thus, the company grew, in a gradual but continuous way from year to year, reaching such values – namely in terms of the volume of employment – which was not compatible with the legal structure it had.
Thus, in May 1990, Carité was created, with João Reinaldo Cunha Teixeira as managing partner. Acting until then only as a service provider in the sewing area, in 1994, it took another step towards becoming a footwear company with its own product, starting to produce the complete footwear, although still and only under subcontracting.
However, the continuous growth of the activity led to the need to increase the available area, dividing the facilities into three different buildings, geographically separated and which were the ground floor of residential buildings, therefore without any conditions for industry.
Em finais de 1994, criou as condições necessárias ao seu desenvolvimento, mais especificamente na área de instalações e na aquisição de equipamento básico com as mais modernas tecnologias.
At the end of 1994, it created the necessary conditions for its development, more specifically in the area of installations and in the acquisition of basic equipment with the most modern technologies.
This attitude allowed for sustained growth in turnover, which exceeded 10 million euros in 2009.
Thus, following a strategy that seeks to operate in a medium-high market segment, with high demand in terms of quality in terms of the materials used and compliance with delivery deadlines, the company has sought, through continuous investment in new production equipment and recruitment of technical cadres to overcome the main difficulties that arise.
